Exploring Safety, Cognition, and the Culture of Grassroots Flight

Editorial Services

If you’re in need of an academic editor, I can help. My specialty fields are aviation safety and education. I’m a qualitative researcher, flight instructor and certified A&P mechanic who has spent over 20 years writing & editing training curricula, technical aviation manuals, websites for aviation businesses, and of course, academic papers. Having worked my way through three graduate degree programs in aviation and education, I know how frustrating the last stages of editing and formatting a thesis can be when you’re just tired of looking at it and can’t even see the typos anymore. Additionally, as a neurodivergent writer, I’m all too familiar with the feeling of being overwhelmed with options, information, and advisors’ critical guidance. Whether that all sounds familiar or you’re just looking for a last-minute sweep to catch errors, I can help you find your way through the noise and put the finishing touches on your capstone project, thesis or dissertation.

Services

I provide proofreading, copyediting, and developmental editorial support for students completing capstone projects, theses and dissertations. As a native English speaker, I’m happy to provide guidance on grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation if you are an international student unsure about the endless inconsistencies of our language.

Rates

My rate for proofreading and copyediting is between 2 and 5 cents per word. If your paper is already finished and just needs a final once-over before submission, that would be considered proofreading, on the lower end of the rate scale. Copyediting includes editing of grammar, punctuation, light sentence structure, citations, references, and overall formatting to university standards.

Developmental editing, which involves heavier editing of sentence structure, paragraphs, and overall presentation, would be at a higher rate.

“Paddywhackery” – A book by Mary McGinnis Bosman

It’s not about flying, but it’s still pretty fun. Growing up, our family of Irish descent used to laugh uncontrollably over funny stories from the past. Some of our relatives are etched in permanent family history with a nostalgic perma-grin. My mother wrote this book in the 1990s, when I was a rolly-eyed teenager. Now that I’m older and more appreciative of our family history, I thought it was time to dust off the files and get it published. It’s a fun way to learn the ropes of self-publishing. Don’t worry, the “Buy Now” link will appear right here as soon as it’s ready. 🙂
